I'm not a big drinker of alcohol, generally, but I do enjoy a good ale or pilsner on occasion. The Rhodes Brewing Company (established 2020) has made a pretty heavy red ale, as far as ales go. Fittingly for the area from which it originates, Avalanche Red Ale has got a smokiness to it, an aftertaste of BBQ sauce. I believe that this is due to the degree to which it is malty. This Irish-style ale is definitely a beer to drink whilst eating char-grilled red meat: braaivleis en boerewors.

Avalanche Ale: This ridiculously remarkable red ale is dedicated to the avalanche of 1893. Legend has it that two farm workers and a Rhodes local were caught in this freak incident. Apparently. it happened close to the Lesotho border near Mavis Bank. Amazingly, all three men got away scot-free, apart from a few bruised egos and a story no-one believes.
I've been saving this one for a few days. Since I've applied for about ten jobs on LaborX, I thought tonight would be as good as any to reward myself.
Now there's a job I could see myself doing: Getting pissed and pretending to be sophisticated while doing it, all in the name of writing reviews of alcoholic beverages.
