Having finally accumulated some small sum of money in my bank account thanks to doing some house-/pet-sitting gigs, I went on a mini shopping spree today (although it wasn't really a spree). I wanted to get some new long cargo pants or something similar, since what I wear to the kennels are old, mud-stained and torn in places and look rather shabby. The only long pants I could find were tracksuit pants. The only cargo pants on sale were shorts, which I ended up buying for when spring/summer rolls around. I'm short on pairs of shorts anyway, so having an extra pair helps. Next week, I'm going into town for my bi-monthly psych check-up, so I can look at stores then to see if I can find some long cargo pants.
The other thing I wanted to buy was gum boots (Wellingtons), but the hardware store in my part of the world didn't have them in my size, which was annoying. Additionally, the rubber repair glue and super glue they stocked was a ridiculous price, so I ended up walking out of the store having not bought anything. Instead, I bought superglue at a much lower price from the supermarket.
I've now cleaned, dried and repaired my shoes with super glue and left them in the sun to dry. Hopefully, I've repaired them well enough that the boots will be water-tight, but only time will tell. In the process, I managed to get glue on my fingers, which I almost always do. (Why is that, I wonder? Perhaps it's because I hold things together with my fingers instead of using clamps or clothes pegs.)
In Other News
I have little over one whole Nano (XNO) in my wallet. (Technically, I have more, but Atomic wallet is still having problems with Nano transactions and showing the correct balance.) I'm hoarding it until I have 25 XNO, which I can convert to WAX or TLOS and mint some NFTs of my artwork. At the rate I'm going with earnings from CVN and TipNano, that'll take a while. (All the faucets I've used in the past seem to have dried up, except for NanSwap.)
I'll be working over the Easter long weekend, so should make a little extra toward clothing purchases and getting a new license plate for my car. (A change in regulation states that everyone in my province must be using a new format by the beginning of November.) My vehicle license disc already has the number in the new format on it, so the sooner I get the plates to match, the better. I wonder how long it will take to make/print the plates, if I can order it done, go do other things and then come back or if I should take a book with me and sit in the parking lot while I wait.
I've been reading A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jnr. and am enjoying it so far. I can certainly see how it inspired the makers of the first Fallout game, what with the barren wasteland and submerged fallout shelter. Once I'm finished with it, I'll move on to others on the "Fallout Inspiration" list.
Tomorrow promises to be sunny all day, so I can finally get some laundry done after days of rain and grey overcast weather. Woot! I'm just hoping there's not going to be a power outage, because that's what usually happens.
