Why The Rich Should Love Crypto

Bienvenidos mis ositos, tu siempre eres mis queridos! (Welcome back little bears you are always my dears!)

My jaw dropped when I saw the ocean view. About a year ago I had a chance to visit a premium penthouse near a beach. On that day I swore that in the future I would retire in a beachfront community.

Sadly a year later I find myself daydreaming about the warm caress of the sun and salt tinged smell of the ocean. I was so close to having such a property for myself but crypto has let me down again. But perhaps the crypto market will come to life in a year or two.

Or maybe it’s not even crypto’s fault. Maybe I didn’t take enough profit when I had the chance. Maybe I got too greedy hoping for $100,000+ Bitcoin.

In hindsight, there was too much hype, infighting and not enough serious innovation and use cases.

Twitter trash talk turns off potential wealthy adopters. Although the 2021 cycle saw more adoption, immature participants and the embarrassing meltdowns hurt credibility.

The next phase better not be just speculative garbage and animal avatars. Play to earn, move to earn and fart to earn won’t cut it in the future.

I can see why the rich remain hesitant and skeptical about the digital asset space.

If you study the rich you’ll notice that they generally have a collection of tangible productive assets.

Water rights, farmland, oilfield leasing, luxury vacation rentals, just to name a few.

Why can’t we start bringing some of these real world assets into the digital world? We need to start building projects that would attract smart wealthy investors.

The digital asset industry has occasionally attracted celebrity status to certain things. For example certain celebrities have BAYC NFTs.

BUT that’s not enough.

For every Saylor level intellect and wealth crypto attracts, there are probably at least a 1,000 smooth brains (such as myself) that bring down the averages.

No offense but we have enough degenerate hobos in the space. We need the credibility and support that the well-heeled can bring.

We need to sell the positive aspects like diversification and new digital luxury asset types to the rich.

Sometimes I think the industry wastes too much time with novelty and not enough time on fixing the problems we have now.

The future of intellectual property rights, licensing, and of course sound money belong to the cryptocurrency and digital asset markets. Moving these ideas to the digital realm can be used as value propositions to entice the rich.

We also have a potential resurrection of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Credit Suisse never recovered after the Archegos fiasco. If there’s another financial meltdown the rich will get scapegoated again.

We might see a replay of calls to “Eat the Rich” in the near future.

The rich could use crypto as an alternative monetary transfer method.

It’s easier to escape with a thumb drive with your BTC and ETH private keys than a bag of gold and silver coins.

Of course, we can also think of some positive reasons for the rich to use crypto.

I’ve read that some energy producers have started to use natural gas that would be flared to mine Bitcoin. That’s a great start.

Most of the world currently uses the US dollar to trade for oil. Why can’t Bitcoin be used as an alternative? It would be faster and more neutral.

Petrodollars could become petrobitcoins.

Another idea: home buying and mortgage process COULD be a good fit. During the global financial crisis of 2008-2009, part of the reason why the downturn was so severe was the lack of transparency. Wall Street repackaged batches of mortgages into things called mortgage backed securities.

When the housing market blew up it took YEARS to sort out who owed what to who.

DeFi would speed up the process AND you would see who the careless are so you avoid them in the future.

This is just a sample of what crypto can offer those of substantial means. As the crypto space evolves WE will become the rich.

Obviously none of this is formal financial or tax advice. You need to find qualified professionals in your jurisdiction.

Be sharp, stay hungry let’s get that money!
