Investing.com app for Crypto Market review

By Emad | honarparvar | 14 Jul 2019

I remember a time, which whoever had an iPhone (and later other touch-base smartphones) was installing any app available in markets… let’s say insane!

It was like users were interested in any app, developers offered. Obviously those days are over and today, people are very careful with their selection of apps to install. It’s a matter of managing resources, time and security, I believe.

For this reason, I’d like to share my experience with one of the most needed apps on my cellphone, Financial Information and News.

I have tried some apps in this category from different publishers, like TeleTrader, MSN Money, TradingView etc and finally Investing.com

I’m using Investing.com app for almost a year and here are my thoughts, good and weak points and my comments overall:

Investing.com is owned by a British company called Fusion Media Limited, composed of 28 editions in 21 languages and mobile apps for both Android and iOS.

My focus is on the app which provides Cryptocurrency news and information, but they have editions for news, analysis, streaming quotes and charts, technical data and financial tools about more global financial markets, covering a broad variety of financial vehicles including Stocks, Bonds, Commodities, Currencies, Interest Rates, Futures and Options.

From the first impressions of the app, you easily find out they have started their work on FOREX market. And this is a good thing for me since my own trading background is same.

In the App you have 5 main tabs:

  • Coins — Sorted crypto coins by their Price, changable to other variables, like 24H changes, Market cap and Trading Vol
This makes you needless to check coinmarketcap.com website frequently, but honestly, this is not my favorite tab!
  • News — It’s more like an old-school news aggregate service. It is simple, handy and useful. The viewer has been proved over time seriously and features now with text size bar, sharing ability and commenting area.
  • Pairs — In this Tab you can search pairs, inter-Crypto pairs or Fiat-Crypto. If you click on a pair, you will get to the page which I assume is the heart of this app and I will discuss it in details later.
  • Converter — Simple Currency converter, well it can be useful, again not my fav tab.
  • Portfolio — This is the interesting part. you can monitor your holdings or watchlist. If you add Watchlist, you will be able to see them in your cellphone as a Widgets (Android version gives better user experience than iOS here) and if you add Holding, you will be able to see your balance, margin, profit at a glance.

You can add 8 pairs in your watchlist, if you wish to see them on your widget. I have a Samsung Note 8 and an iPhone 7. So maybe other devices differ in this issue.

When you touch a pair, from the widget, portfolio or Pairs’ tab, you will be headed to the page for that pair which integrates all the features of the App.

You can view pairs from different markets or exchanges. Kraken, Bitfinex, Exmo, itBit, BitStamp, Poloniex, Bittrex etc

A chart will be given to you in 1 Day, Weak, Month, Year and 5 Years period. Also a Max tab will project the maximum time possible for that pair and market. You can turn your cellphone to horizontal to have a full screen view (no need to unlock screen rotation)

There will be other Tabs in this page, bringing up the news for that pair, Analysis by several Authors, comments by users and some technical stuff.

Ads

Well, There are ads, and I can say some of them are annoying. For example the one which seems to be a very consistent client, shows a Buy/Sell button and can trick you time to time to touch!

And I hate those pop-op whole screen ads too! who likes them at all?! Anyway, you can remove those ads by buying a subscription which I never tried.

Other ads like between news and below the converter are properly placed and not annoying.

Cool Stuff!

There are some cool stuff on this app, one recently added is the sentiment section which you can see in each pair’s page.

It will ask for your personal Sentiment (like a vote), shows the community sentiment (Bullish or Bearish) and keeps a track of your sentiments with their performance over the time.

Another cool stuff is the sliding pane which shows your recently viewed pairs and helps you navigate quicker to your history of interests.

I also like the Alerts pane, which can inform you when price of a pair or coin moves below or above some level, or changes some specific percent.

Overall rate

In the Google Play Store, this app gets a 4.6 rate out of 5, today (July 13th 2019) and I can almost agree with this rank. Mine would be 4.

Many parts can be seen missing in this app from different perspectives, like market, wallet etc. Some may be out of the team mission and some may be in the process of implementation.

Note: I wrote this review to share my personal point of view and maybe help people who have same concerns and needs like mine. This is not a paid review or professional technology review. Thanks for reading.
