My YouTube Adventure - Starting to Work Out (Again) Is F-ing Hard!

Here is a quick summary of what I wrote about in my first two posts

I work as a fitness class instructor. The C-virus made it impossible for me to do my job in the way I used to. The reason: It was deemed too risky for people to meet in person. As a matter of fact, it sill is deemed too risky where I live. My courses are still suspended... I took some time off from working out and -- my body deteriorated quickly. I decided to fight against the decay and started working out at home. I had to adapt my exercises to the restrictions of the new workout environment -- and the motivation of standing in front of a group of up to 150 people was missing entirely. I decided to get that thrill back and I wanted to try monetizing my workouts.

Let's continue

Before we get to the monetization aspects and the technical solutions on how to stream or record basically any kind of class or course, let me discuss how it felt to start working out again after a break of only a couple of weeks. I believe that this is a hurdle for many people who know they should get back into working out or into a healthy lifestyle. Maybe you used to work out when you were younger, in your teens or twenties. Then life got so busy that you could not make the time to continue working out and you found yourself more or less forced into a sedentary lifestyle. Probably at some point you noticed that your body changed quite a bit from how it was before. Probably you wrote that off to becoming older. It might just be a natural process, right? (I believe it doesn't have to be.) Maybe you decided that you wanted to start working out again. Maybe you even started, but probably, you lost your motivation quickly once you realized how hard it was to start again. You probably compared yourself to your former self -- back when you were in shape.

Let me tell you about my experience. Maybe that will help you with your motivation and with your mindset

Starting again after my hiatus from working out was unbelievably hard at first. I remembered what my body was capable of doing just a few measly weeks ago. Compared to what it was able to do now, I was extremely disappointed and my initial motivation was gone quickly. It would have been too easy to stop working out again. But then it would only become even harder the next time I decided to start. And I knew I had to make a change. I could not waste any time with negative thoughts and emotions of disappointment. They were unnecessary -- even worse, they were obstacles that needed to be overcome. I cannot change what happened, I cannot change any bad decisions I made in the past, I can only change what I am doing right now and what I will be doing in the future. So, I focused on the now and on the future.

To be continued... In my next post I will discuss the health benefits of working out. Stay tuned!
