After noticed in the news, that Bitcoin rised up to more than 60k EUR in Q4 2021, it was the first time that I really tried to figure out, what was behind that 'crypto currencies'. There must have been something behind, if somebody is interested in paying that much money for.
Though, I read articles, watched videos, etc. and tried to find out, how I could participate in any way. Was it maybe already too late? Well, it's never too late to invest … but as I said prior to this … I did not wanted to invest … maybe there was a chance to receive something free, like stated in some of the information I gathered … with something called 'faucet'…
I had NO idea what that is ;-) Obviously a faucet in general looks like this:
But that must be wrong somehow....
After further research, I found the conclusion WHAT it is in the crypto space, but I still did not know, WHERE to find or HOW to use it … I mean, without any risk of course … maybe those sites are scam (oh yes, I had to learn what scam sites are as well …) and not trusted, or not secure any way. I mean … you all know these annoying pop-ups, and ads, and whatever. Though, I started very carefully my exploration to some recommended faucets that sound at least anyhow good or trusted…
One of the faucets I came around, was obviously freebitco.in … well, could be the name of course, when searching the internet for 'free bitcoin', couldn't it? :-) Then after some further research on sites like trustpilot or foxyrating and similar hints from some guys on youtube and so on, I got to know that it seems to be a well trusted source.
Ok, then, let's go:
… open the site … register … verify mail … solve a captcha … spin the wheel … fine, my first 4 free satoshis. Nice … took, just seconds. Again, trying to solve captcha … but wait … what?
'you've to wait an hour to spin the wheel again' … hmm, well, ok … I'll wait. Meanwhile, start searching further faucets and trying to figure out … what is, to be honest, a satoshi … and what is it's worth?
For the next hour, I read more about and was very disappointed, that 1 BTC is = 100.000.000 Satoshi and one satoshi not even close to something like 1 CENT… so divided by 4 for each spin, it will be 25.000.000 spins …and you can at maximum do 24 spins a day (obviously just half of it), so 12 … which would result in more than 2.000.000 days to gain 1 BTC … or more than 5.000 years.
Well, this way will take too long I suppose, even if I used several of these faucets in parallel … it would take at least hundreds of years BUT: even half of one bitcoin, or a quarter or maybe even smaller units … well, free money at least.
Maybe I'll find something else, similar to use, without much efforts needed because for THIS small amount of money, it will never really worth it to use. However, as a first experience, I was happy somehow, to have gathered my first cryptos.
Long story short … I'm still using freebitco.in, but just as a kind of fun. I like this spin-the-wheel feature somehow, as you have the chance at least to win a huge amount for free, but I'm still FAR away within this faucet to even cashout the first time, as I've never hit some bigger numbers. Anyway, some Euros for free … why not.
