1. Select the RIGHT marketplace:

Your first step is to choose a marketplace to display and sell your work. A marketplace is a platform where NFTs (ie. your artwork) can be seen. Marketplaces are the central hub for NFT’s to be bought, traded, auctioned and/or sold. There are many different marketplaces to choose from, it is just a matter of choosing the right marketplace that suits you and your needs.

In a previous article I shared with you my ranking for the top NFT marketplaces in detail, based on my own research for selecting a marketplace to display my collections, so if you are wanting more information to better determine the best marketplace for you, that article lists the pros and cons of each. Feel free to read it here. To quickly list a few examples of marketplaces available, there is Opensea, Rarible and Mintable.

2. Choose an Exchange Platform:

Once you have selected the marketplace that you want to display your collection, you will need to connect an e-wallet. An e-wallet operates the same way as a regular wallet. It is where you store your crypto money.

In order to get crypto currency into your e-wallet you need to open an account with a crypto currency exchange platform.

These platforms run similar to how banks run in real life except, of course, they are decentralized. To put it more simply, these are the places where you can exchange one currency for another. For instance, exchanging USD currency into crypto currency.

Popular examples of exchange platforms are Binance and Coinbase. There are pros and cons to each and the benefits depend on your country of origin so it is best to research the pros and cons of each and then select the best one for you.

3. Create an E-wallet:

After you have set up an account with a crypto currency exchange platform your next step is to create an e-wallet. Again, this is the place where you store your crypto currency. Commonly used e-wallets are MetaMask, Portis and Bitski. After you create your wallet remember to not give so secret passwords or passcodes to anyone. It is best to create a brand-new email account and use this as your currency exchange and e-wallet information, keeping these passwords and email addresses private and in a safe place.

4. Fund you E-wallet:

Every NFT marketplace is built on a specific blockchain. For instance, Opensea is built on the Ethereum blockchain.  This means that you will need to have Ethereum in your e-wallet in order to make any transactions, including listing a collection, on the Opensea marketplace.

There are many different blockchains but most NFTs are bought and sold in ETH so it is safest to ensure that you have ETH currency in your e-wallet. However, there are a growing number of marketplaces that are choosing other blockchains for varying reasons, such as environmental concerns. Feel free to explore these marketplaces in more detail to select the one that resonates with you.

5. Connect your e-wallet to a marketplace:

Wow, you have gotten this far! Your almost done! Now it is time to connect your digital wallet to the marketplace that you have chosen. Go to their website and follow their instructions to connect your e-wallet. After you connect your wallet, you are ready to create your page and mint your NFTs.

6. Create your collections page:

The collection page where you will display your NFTs. On Opensea, select “Create”. A new window will open where you can upload your digital art. You will also be uploading your banner, thumbnail and featured image here when prompted so make sure to have that ready. Fill in all the other blanks, such as product description and royalty fees etc.

7. List your collections page:

Now you are ready to sell your work! But it doesn’t stop here, you are just getting started! Now that you have birthed your new collection out into the Crypto world it time to get more eyes on your work. Make sure you have a good social media marketing strategy ready to implement so that you can gain more admirers and awareness on your collection.

Remember your audience is out there, it is just a matter of consistently sharing your voice and brand message so that your audience can see your work and come to you. But for now, pat yourself on the back because you are one step closer to becoming a successful artist online and selling your work!

I hope that these steps have helped you to upload your first NFT collection. Ensuring that you have a wallet and correct currency in order to list your collections. Now that you are here remember to focus on what you love, and that’s creating! Instead of having 10,000 images for sale, start small, and eventually your collection will grow.

I would love to hear your thoughts.
