Genesis 37:31-36

That is it for chapter 37 - congrats if you are still with me. That is it for Joseph and his dreams as well. He is out of the picture now as far as his family is concerned. He was sold to the Midianites (Medanim), then sold again when he go to Egypt (Mitsraim).

They had taken Joseph's special robe back to their father and let him assume the worst. They only asked him to identify the clothing as Joseph's. Israel only wished to go to his grave to be with h is son and it did not matter how much the other kids tried to comfort him.

I believe that the brothers had a much more difficult life without Joseph as opposed to dealing with his lofty dreams. The real dig is that the dreams ended up being true later on. It is a prophetic catch-22 of sorts because the dreams telling the future caused the future it seems. If he had not gotten the dreams, would his brothers still have sold him into slavery?

Then they took Joseph's robe and slaughtered a goat and dipped the robe in the blood. And they sent the robe of many colors and brought it to their father and said, "This we have found; please identify whether it is your son's robe or not." And he identified it and said, "It is my son's robe. A fierce animal has devoured him. Joseph is without doubt torn to pieces." Then Jacob tore his garments and put sackcloth on his loins and mourned for his son many days. All his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted and said, "No, I shall go down to Sheol to my son, mourning." Thus his father wept for him. Meanwhile the Midianites had sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, the captain of the guard.
