HAWAI'I "TRUE LIFE MOMENTS"

HAWAI'I "TRUE LIFE MOMENTS"

aloha

Aloha, I am chantel , and as I mentioned earlier in previous posts, I am born, raised an grew up on the big-island of hawai'i. I am going to share with you some precious moments that I remember being a hawaiian born resident on the big-island of hawaii . I do have many other nationalities too. I love my bloodline and originality that we came from in our older generations time, taught down to us younger generation and still carries on till today.

For instance learning how to swim in Ka'u, we were brought to a beach called Punalu'u Black Sand Beach Park. There was an area of the beach that was blocked off with the formation on lava rocks as the water break wall. The waves would hit over the lava rocks when it was high tide and bring in the honu's (turtle's) and sometimes lobsters into the tide pools, but that is where we were taught to swim at the beach. Pacific ocean waves, the fresh breeze and air, and most of all the sensation of relaxation.

Another thing that we are taught from young is fishing. I am going to say now that in hawai'i you do not need a fishing permit, Especially if you are of hawaiian blood. To fish and live off the land is what the native hawaiians did back in the old days. I have a few moments of the fishing done down in Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, also some photos of the ponds where I grew up swimming in those ponds as I had mentioned earlier. Also a few photos of some of the fish caught. Those fish just fried up in oil with salt & pepper or garlic salt or both, also can just put the fish on the grill, another is baking them, so yummy, but watch out for bones.

Also every generation is brought into learning Hula (hawaiian dance). Boys and girls are called "Keiki", men (Kane) and women(Wahinae) can dance hula. Men wear a Malu (loin cloth) dancing Kahiko ( Ancient Hula), and women wear Muumuu's ( a flowy loose flowered/normal/printed long color dress).Hula is taught in the school systems throughout all of hawai'i. Hula is a very strong part of my hawaiian culture. I posted some images of hawaii hula dancers. Hula is very special and can easily be learned, if you are willing to except the knowledge and backgrounds of each Hula song danced(I am willing to teach, those who are interested and want to learn Hula).

Hawai'i Island Life
Hawai'i Island Life

Imagine waking up every morning and being able to just load up your car and go to the beach an bbq, Imagine being able to just camp where you want and fish (with no permits required). Imagine being able to just walk right down the road to a friends house or go right around the corner to your uncle or auntys house. Imagine fresh breezes under coconut trees and listening to the sounds of the waves rumbling on the black sand beach, rolling the pebbles along the sand with incoming waves.
