The upcoming partnership marks the bands first appearance with Marvel Comics since the Marvel Comic Super Special Series of 1977. KISS, at the time between their 'Rock n Roll Over' era and 'Love Gun' tours stopped by the Marvel Printing plant and did the ingenious....they put their own blood into the red ink vat which went directly into the upcoming Marvel Comics Super Special series Issue #1 featuring the band......sealing their identity as a larger than life band for decades to come. This comic was the first in the Super Special Series which later went on to include other bands including The Beatles.
KISS have appeared in many comics over the years after the initial Marvel appearances of 1977 and 1978. From the Todd McFarlane series (creator of Spawn) 'Psycho Circus' to KISS 4K, a Dark Horse series and many more. Their unique identities and makeup lending very well to the comic book scene and fans have been lapping it up for decades. The original KISS Marvel issue has gone down in history as one of the most sought after issues. Copies of the 'blood' issue regularly sell on ebay between $500-1000. A sought after collector item.
This new KISS/Marvel partnership will be spanning new comics, accessories, drinkware, homegoods and posters. Promising an amazing new era for KISS as they begin to wrap up their touring of the globe for 47 Years on their record breaking 'End Of The Road' tour.
Having formed in 1973 KISS have sold over 100 Million Albums worldwide. Their biggest sellers during the original era of the band on 1973-1979 include KISS Alive!, Destroyer, Rock n Roll Over, Love Gun, Alive II, and Dynasty which cemented their popularity as a larger than life band or comic book heroes to some. A band prepared to go that extra mile in terms of their legendary live performance and to break boundaries and rules for what a band could and should be. Their simply were no rules.
As Gene Simmon's once said "We are The Beatles on steroids"
