As I sat in front of my laptop, trying not to melt in this insane heat wave, I had a thought for an interesting project. A Comic Strip. But of what subject? And drawing people characters just gave me the “Heebie - Jeebies”, for drawing people isn’t my strong point anymore. My idea looked like it was headed out to the “Recycling Bin” pile, before my pencil even started sketching on paper.
After thinking things over, I suddenly had a thought that might save my Comic Strip idea from the trash heap. What if I made the subject something I’m already comfortable drawing? Other than trees, flowers and other landscape like things, I decided to go with the only other “living” thing that pops up in my art now and then. That weird eyeball thing.
So after putting around my sketch pad, scanner, and trusty old laptop, I came up with a silly 4 panel story of two eyes and a ping pong table.
The Medium is pencil, pen, marker, highlighter, and splash of digital enhancement. I also went with relaxed drawing style, almost to the point of a doodle, to make it a quick and painless therapeutic event. But also, to have room to go for improvements if I decide to expand on these little Looky – Loos’ universe.
