Rainy days, perfect for staying cozy, having a snack, watching movies, reading, and personal introspection… even writing. The other claimed to make donations to a company that planted trees where needed… I don’t know if that was true, but I like to think it was.

Sumatra: The Island of Gold is an Android game in which users guide a character across landscapes, dodging obstacles and collecting golden coins and rewards...or at least it was the first month, now this adventure get performed by your device and the only thing you see is a changing character while the bar of progress advance. The core mechanic is simple: the more coins you collect, the higher time spent on it and the more rewards you unlock. The game is free to download, from Android 7.0 and above, and a session last 3 h with bonus every hour but get resetted each day. You won't get rich (unless you have like a thousand referrals) but with constant use you could make like 10-30 $ each month; and i'm talking about me whos has 0 referrals.

The name choice is evocative — and it likely serves several strategic purposes:

• Historical resonance: The real island of Sumatra, in Indonesia, has a storied reputation as a land rich in natural resources and cultural history. Ancient traders referred to the region as Suvarnadvipa, or “Island of Gold,” because of its wealth and the value of its exports; the app doesn’t directly explore this history actually.

• A sense of discovery: Calling the game The Island of Gold immediately positions it as a treasure hunt — players aren’t just collecting coins, they’re exploring an island full of mystery and opportunity.

• Brand alignment: Within Givvy’s portfolio, many games are themed around earning rewards, treasure, or progression, and a title like Sumatra reinforces that narrative by promising “gold” — virtual gold. The golden imagery fits well with the idea of earnings, bonuses, and achievements.
