I've started playing a crypto game called Gods Unchained in February 2022. This is a review of the earnings and the gameplay. I played it for free and had not invested money into it, so only time was invested. Is the time cost for playing Gods Unchained worth it?
Level up mechanism:
In short, players battle with each other in the arena and would earn a higher level of shield if the number of wins reaches a certain limit. However, every lost battle would damage your shield. If your shield is damaged for too many times, your shield level drops.
So, you can imagine constant straddling between the shield levels. This can be frustrating.
You earn Stars every time your battle. You also earn Flux if you haven't yet had 3 wins for playing as that particular 'god' that day. You must switch to another 'god' to play if you want to continue earning Flux that day.
When you battle with richer guys (who invested more in those cards):
You will see those never-before-seen powerful spells, powerful creatures with powerful roar (roar means an action activated when the card is played). There is no easy way to completely eliminate nor defend yourself against the opponent's highly valuable cards (e.g. Prison Escapee is a never-ending flow of assault) for a poor noob. Feel free to exclaim 'OH MY GOD!' when you see your opponent play some very special cards or had levelled up one of their creatures' attack to 20 to lengthen their playing time and pleasure until they finally smash you, who are cardless and defenceless, in the head, as evidenced in the picture below:

The last card in my hand was this shabby wooden barrier, currently under attack in the picture.
The attack of the leftmost lion crested from around 8 or 9, when I had already run out of cards and became powerless, to 20 now. Dear opponent, do you have any manners? Do you have any mercy? Such behaviour was very unGODly. Maybe I should've ended the game early by pressing Alt-F4.
Timezone matters:
Since I live in the APAC region, I always see Chinese people with @163.com email addresses in the morning, sometimes they are also there at night. Guys and gals in Europe and America, I only see you at night! I perceived that the day often gets tougher towards the night.
Weekend events:
Your battle performance in the first 25 games during weekends would determine your rewards. Let me quote their description on the Gods Unchained official website (as retrieved on 15 Mar 2022):
Weekend Ranked runs weekly from Friday 5am PDT/4am PST until Monday 5am PDT/4am PST unless otherwise stated. Weekend Ranked $GODS rewards will become claimable within 7 days after each event concludes. Token rewards must be claimed by April 28th 2022, 23:59 PDT.
$GODS tokens:
For your information, the cards sell. These $GODS tokens also sell. Welcome packs given to newbies aren't worth a grain of salt on the market.
Flux and $GODS are required for you to fuse 2 identical cards in the Forge for a better card.
So:
Is it profitable for a poor noob to play Gods Unchained?
From mid-Feb 2022 to mid-Mar 2022, how many $GODS tokens have I earned by playing Gods Unchained?
Flux earned: 3.7 k
Stars earned: 30 k
$GODS earned: 0
And you've played this game so long that you start to question whether you'd have a better life facing away from the computer.
Unless you really have a lot of spare time and you only play it for fun, not thinking about your earnings at all, I don't think playing computer games all day for 0 $GODS tokens is highly recommendable.
I have to make it clear that I had participated in Weekly Ranked events and played the games on weekdays, yet I have received no $GODS tokens. Sounds great!
