The IMF's director of capital markets had an interview on Yahoo Finance, he left some comments from which conclusions can be drawn. He was talking about the fear, uncertainty, and doubts about algorithmic stablecoins but he also had time to doubt USDT. It is not that I fully trust stablecoins and even less so after the things we are experiencing this year. But that this man declare it in an interview helps to generate uncertainty.
Mr. Tobias Adrian also stated:
“40,000 coins are lying around…. Regulating the coins themselves will be difficult, but regulating the entry points, like exchanges and wallet providers, to invest in those coins, is something very concrete and doable.”
Knowing that this point had to come sooner or later, what I understand from these statements is that there is also a lot of FUD on their part since they see the possibility of losing control of the capital.
How would a more exhaustive control of exchanges by the IMF affect?
I think it would be positive for the cleanup of shitcoins and a change of sentiment in the confidence of most people in cryptocurrencies. But at the same time it would be going back to the same shit of the system as always, this time digitalized and even more controlled.
Do you think decentralization will become a reality?
