So apparently this "supervillain" Qian Zhimin was on the run from Chinese authorities for running scams, found her way into England where she was caught and has just recently been sentenced to 11 years and 8 months in prison.

At the time of the arrest Qian Zhimin held over 61.000 Bitcoins which would rank her as the third largest individual Bitcoin holder in the entire world. Well, if you count the Winklevoss twins as one person that is:

"The 47-year-old lived a life of luxury renting expensive mansions and plotting to become the monarch of a self-proclaimed nation “Liberland” until she was arrested last year, prosecutors said."

What is this obsession scammers have with creating/buying their own islands and nations? I'm sure it goes beyond wanting to be save from authorities because if not, they may want to study how it ended for Jonestown.

Anyways, this is not a good look for us who argue Bitcoin is not used that much by criminals and scammers.😅 I mean come on, the third largest would be individual Bitcoin hodler was this person who wanted to be emperor Yadi Zhang of Liberland?

That's an L, period. Unless of course she would make Bitcoin the national currency of Liberland, then it would of course be a W allll day long.🤟

But seriously I'm glad she's caught and all, I just hope that those she scammed get some kind of restitution and the Bitcoin holdings they recover from her don't become another international Bitcoin dispute.

PS did you know most Bitcoin wallets as of April 2025 hold 0 to 0.001 Bitcoin? That's over 30 million wallets who collectively hold 5543.89 Bitcoins. So if you yourself hold over 0.001 Bitcoin in one wallet, you are already a whale to the majority.
