Over the recent months, this game along side with a whole bunch of other slew of play-to-earn games have been sweeping the crypto-verse. One of them in particular is Upland, so lets find out if its worth "playing" the game.
What is upland and is it worth investing?
Upland is a so called "investment" site with some gamification added to it which makes it seem more friendly to gamers and towards the younger generations. The basic understanding of Upland is you buy land that is according to real world addresses, and you can upgrade, rent it out, sell it, flip it, etc, at a higher price - the thing is... At this moment in time you are not able to withdraw. Yes, currently you are not able to withdraw, - the website states, "UPX strictly as a utility token. This means it can only be used inside Upland and cannot be withdrawn. By doing so, we avoid the trading of UPX on external or decentralized exchanges outside of our control, which averts the possibility of being deemed a financial security by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (US SEC)." In my opinion, Upland's future is very uncertain, as more and more players rack up UPX coins in their account with the intend of withdrawing for crypto, and when withdrawing UPX for crypto is available, players will most probably crash the entire game, because everyone will be withdrawing their thousand if not millions of UPX coins all at once, destroying the economy of the game - therefore I don't think Upland is a good investment.
My Thoughts and Conclusion
While this game is more towards the investment side of things, I believe this kind of NFT world property thing has been recycled and use many times before, I remember there was this game call world.io or something which had Instagram ads running all the time and I would see it constantly, - it has the same concept of Upland but just towards a different market as oppose to Upland's crypto/gamer targeted audience. Hence why I just don't see a future in this game.
