The REAL story: last century in a Bejing state monitored hotel, we bought something and the poor guy working there gave us our change in plastic toy money. He actually had to break off the tiny plastic coins from the injection moulding to give them to us. It was so funny we brought a friend in to see him do it again. The clerk gave us a dirty look and refused to go thru the charade a second time.
