What's funny is a decade old article from CNBC below points out that the gummint changed how inflation is calculated. For example, the 5.5% inflation of 2011 REALLY was 9.6% if measured the same way it was in the early eighties!! So the REAL inflation rate is what, 18% now??? lol!!! Not a 40 year high, more like ATH!!!
An Egypt FT story reads like an ad for no fiat please. Their central banker just quit. The military is expanding control over the entire economy. The IMF keeps the party going, with 20 billion in loans, plus "reforms" where the Egyptian pound went down 50% in a year. Take THAT, average Egyptian family. You've been REFORMED!!! gee thanks IMF. We didn't want to be able to buy a washing machine with our savings anyway, we guess. NOT in the FT story oddly? Inflation in Egypt is hanging around the 14% mark by whatever way measured.
