What is a nootropics !?
Nootropics are a class of substances that are said to be intended to improve brain function, they can be synthetic or natural, and while these substances won't give you superhuman abilities, they can help you feel more alert, improve your memory, your concentration and your ability to learn.
Basically, nootropics can give you much needed energy and motivation to shine in life.
Although the term “nootropics” is relatively new, having been coined in 1972, natural nootropics have been used by our ancestors for centuries. Believe it or not, caffeine, nicotine, chocolate, and cannabidiol are all considered nootropics.
The history of nootropics dates back to the 1960s and 70s when Romanian neuroscientist Corneliu E. Giurgea was researching and discovering what later became the first synthetic nootropic, Piracetam.
He was the inventor of the term nootropic as well as how to define a nootropic, and had a lasting effect on how we define a nootropic today.
Dr. Giurgea gave us a list of five criteria that a substance must meet to be considered a "true" nootropic:
- 1. They should improve learning ability and memory.
- 2. They should support brain function in disruptive conditions such as lack of oxygen and electroconvulsive shock
- 3. They must protect the brain against various physical or chemical lesions (ex. barbiturates, scopolamine, anticholinergic).
- 4. They should increase the efficiency of cognitive processes.
- 5. They should not have the usual pharmacology of other psychotropic drugs (eg sedation, motor stimulation) and possess very few side effects and extremely low toxicity.
Why do people use Nootropics?
In the same way that the caffeine in your morning coffee wakes you up and prepares you to face the day, nootropics can be used to better control your state of mind, boost productivity, motivation, focus and mental alertness, confidence, extroversion and verbal fluency.
Can be used in pre-workout blends for extra energy, Support brain health and stimulate the generation of new neurons, fight neurodegenerative diseases, Improve mental well-being, relieve anxiety anxiety and lift your mood, even anti-aging effects.
⚠️but
But to be perfectly honest with you, in general we are all the same, but each of us has variations in the cognitive "wiring", our chemical and genetic makeup is different.
We are influenced by the foods we eat, where we live, the air we breathe, and the genes we inherit from our parents. But each nootropic can have a different effect at different doses on different people, even having no effect on you, but being very effective for your neighbor.
