Getting free crypto from SPACE

By Ofer Sadan | FreeFaucets | 3 Mar 2021

Seriously, it's possible to get some small amounts of cryptocurrency from space, as well as by travelling around earth.

I've recently been experimenting with different types of crypto faucets to see which ones are reliable, stable, and actually pay. In this post and several others in this blog, I will publish details about what I find (so be sure to subscribe and follow me).

For today, I'd like to talk about something that's just cool, but also pays! Getting crypto, or more accurately - NANO - from the International Space Station (ISS).

First, I installed the WeNano app and created an account on it. I got a basic wallet address to go along with it as part of the app, but the best feature about it is the ability to create "hotspots" that are basically geographic areas that can be defined to give out free NANO. Since I live in an area with a hotspot already near me, I immediately received 0.2 NANO (~= 1$) from it.

Searching through the map can let you know about other areas in your country / district that can also pay. Some hotspots only pay once, but others pay repeatedly as well. If one of those hotspots is anywhere near you or near places you work or travel to, that's easy money right there.

But what about the ISS? Well first, zoom out on the map as much as you can to see an overview of the Earth. Using the map filters, disable everything except for "Show Special". You will then see the ISS travelling across the planet! If you happen to be in the area below it (or in a generous 500 KM radius of it) you can then get a payout of 0.1 NANO (~= 0.5$). Now sure, that isn't a lot, but it's basically free space money...

If you're not currently in that area, don't worry. The ISS orbits the Earth every 90 minutes, and NASA can help you track when it's going to be in your area! Check out this link as a start, you can even subscribe in Email or SMS to receive notifications on the ISS location.

In upcoming posts I'll be exploring in depth some more free faucets. My main requirements are that faucets are easy to use, and easy to withdraw. For now, here's a spoiler of the ones I currently use and recommend (with coins listed):
