According to BlockData, quoted by china.org.cn, the world's most populous country has taken the lead in developing new blockchain projects.
According to the BlockData study, there are 263 projects in China related to blockchain. This represents up to 25% of their total.
Li Qilei, CTO and blockchain developer Quilan Technology, said the Chinese financial sector is the biggest blockchain user, especially in the security of bank and broker assets.
The news that China is leading the way in this technology is not so surprising. The World Intellectual Property Organization has announced last year that most of the blockchain-related patents come from China. In 2017, it was even more than half (225 patents), followed by the USA (91) and Australia (13).
Just a few days ago, the Chinese Shipbuilding Industry Company Limited, a subsidiary of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, signed an agreement with Shanghai Bank to implement blockchain technology to finance its suppliers. In Jiangsu Province, China, a multiannual project has been launched to support the development of transport infrastructure through blockchain.
