Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza is a large monument built by Maya's of the Terminal Classic period.This giant monument is located in Yucatán, Mexico.It's estimated that they occuped Chichen Itza for something between 750 and 900 AD or even more as the last known date was recorded in 998 AD.
What Chichen Itza means?
The term 'Chichen Itza' means 'the mouth at the well of Itza' and it's believed that Itza means 'waters magician'.
El Castillo is the famous pyramid which dominates the site of Chichen Itza and it actually sits on another much older temple.
Although the Kukulkan Pyramid is the most famous and most visited, there are numerous others in Chichen Itza. The Osario is very similar but smaller in size and at the centre is an opening to a natural cave.
How tall is Chichen Itza?
El Castillo stands with 98 feet tall(29.9m) and it's the tallest structure at Chichen Itza.
Other large structures include the Great Ball Court, an ancient sports arena with stone platforms measuring 95 feet in length and 25 feet in height, the Osario Pyramid, and the Temple of the Warriors all of this list inside Chichen Itza.
