This article is dedicated to all the people that act super confident in public and maybe even in their private life too. But behind closed doors, there is another side to them. An insecure side that causes them to question their choices and holds them back from talking about their beliefs for fear of judgement or ridicule.
Self-belief is the predecessor to true self-confidence. Believing in what you can do, if you just put your mind to it. Believing in your skillset and abilities. Trusting that you can deal with adversity and rise above it.
I was prompted to reflect on this concept when I caught up with my mentor and went over some of my tricky cases. I felt a sense of relief and validation when she agreed with my clinical reasoning and therapy processes. She told me that I should go with my gut more often and believe in myself. I also thought about what my coach once said to me when I thanked him and my team for believing in me. His response was; “looking forward to see what you achieve when you start believing in yourself”.
