There are some conversations that never really go away. It doesn't matter what community you're following, you will most certainly come across these debates again and again. Here are the...
Top 3 eternal debates in geeky gaming
#1 - PC Master Race
For the longest time, PC gamers often consider their taste for gaming is just better than others'. Every console can be fun, but they feel like an entry-level gaming box. We like the Switch because it's simply mobile phone gaming done right.
On the other hand, console gamers will think laptops are too clunky because of how umconfortable it is compared to sitting on a couch across the big screen TV. Desktop computers are even worse, as every game install offers a variety of technical issues to overcome.
Both sides hold very valid opinions despite them being clearly exagerated. That's when "anything will do" gamers will eat popcorn and laugh at us.
#2 - Y game is a copy of X game
Whenever a game releases, it is bashed for being a copy of a spiritual predecessor. "Terraria is a Minecraft clone", they used to say. Nowadays it has been changed to "Planet Centauri / Starbound / Dig or Die copies Terraria".
It happens in every genre, but more often among indie games. Come on guys, it doesn't matter if a game is inspired by another. We should just be glad we have more options of things we already love.
#3# - Back in the day, that franchise was better
This sentence has been repeated so often. Diablo, World of Warcraft, Mega Man, Street Fighter, League of Legends. There's always that one fan (or thousands) who feel nostalgia for experiences they miss.
But can you blame them for ranting about it? Sure, the newest game is cool, but it's nothing like the old one. If the company responsible for the franchise isn't going to make what we want, we just can't expect it from anyone else.
The worst part is that even if a different company develops something similar, it's just not the world we love. I.e., we want to see the Diablo lore properly continued in the way we expected it. We want the real Tyrael, not some character inspired by him, even if it's also a good one.
Sometimes we'll rant about it but it left a hole in our gaming hearts that will never be filled. So please bare with us while we indulge in our precious memories.
