Sonic Totem

From solo gamedev SABrown comes Sonic Totem using the Unity engine. It's still very early in the development process so when you give it a try, remember things are going to get fixed. For now let's focus on the promising parts and let all the glitches slide by.

Level design is solid! It fits the Sonic themes like a glove. Every sprite is beautiful and the backdrops are much more detailed. You can easily sense how fluid everything is and get excited about this project's future.

The level of attention given to little details is easily what gives away how much love the developer has for it's creation. Thankfully, Sonic Totem is filled with them both artistically and in level design.

Now let's get to the bad side: movement, physics. Sonic feels far off from the original which might get on the player's nerves at first. Getting stuck spinning on ledges is frustrating because you have to pull yourself out then try jumping across again, which breaks the pace.

There are some very funny glitches though and Sonic dying from being squashed has a hilarious effect. So now that you know about both the pros and the cons, you're ready to download it from it's page on Sonic Fangames HQ and take it for a spin.
