A very unique killer awaits you In Silence

In Silence is an absolutely amazing multiplayer horror game. It will keep the jump scares coming through the first 10 or so matches, but surviving still takes cooperation and wits. The monster mechanic is very difficult and unique, so players who enjoy being the killer will have a lot of fun with it. There's no other game offering a hunt through sound. The Rake is a very powerful, but still heavily limited beast.

Once the game begins, survival players quickly discuss where they should go. Each one gets two individual perks at random, enabling different roles and strategies every match. One survivor will get a map/radar perk, so they can more easily find where to go next. There are two ways to win: escaping by repairing the car, consisting of searching for its missing parts in the houses, roads and the barn, or downright killing the Rake. You don't have to choose either at the start, so you can work on both and decide later on which route you want to take. In case you want to get to the weapons, that will happen only if you find the markings of all four lock combinations scattered across all buildings.

The Rake has almost no sight at all - think of a very darkened and blurry vision beyond two inches of your face. Despite what's said in the Steam store description, sounds do not make you see better. But they do ping on your Rake radar, so you have to run in the direction you've heard something, and then carefully scan the room for tasty humans. Survivors will make sounds when they use the ingame chat, whenever they walk or run, and when they step on toys or unwillingly activate proximity alarms. But they can still use sounds against you by turning on a radio or TV when you're right next to it and run for it, because when you're near something really loud, your radar gets confused, so you have to step back or break the object. You also have to be careful not to step on bear traps they can strategically place as they're found, even though it will only slow you down.

Its initial content will last through several hours in multiplayer matches as you get better in them, but it's still lacking in variety. An acceptable flaw for a 3-months old Early Access title. You get only one map with slightly randomized building locations, one monster and four survivor skins. Because the game is fun and cheap enough, this does not stop me from recommending it. There is, however, an infinite-loading-screen bug when starting a match, which can be very painful to endure when you get it multiple times in a row. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
