/r/Cryptocurrency reaches 1 MILLION subscribers! Hosting a 1 MILLION sat giveaway!

There are few decent avenues to gather intel on the market, and even less that offer a level of engagement. I like to think publish0x is one of those. Cryptotwitter? Not so much. 

Most people in the crypto space are emotionally invested in their coins and projects, and that is understandable when money is on the line. Personally, I think /r/cryptocurrency is not a good place to find deep engagement, as users tend to downvote anything that doesn’t fit their narrative, and as such it’s a circle jerk or downvote brigade. But, it is a good spot to get overall big news on the market. It is also a measurement in itself of the market, particularly how widespread and popular Bitcoin and crypto is.

So it is significant that /r/cryptocurrency has now passed 1 million subscribers. For example, /r/Europe, only has 2 million subscribers. /r/comics only has 1.4 million. So the fact that 1 million people are down and interested in Bitcoin and crypto says a lot. It shows how far this market has come, a decade in. A million people is a significant critical mass.

Now, of course many of those subscribers are bots. And yes, a lot of them came in the 2017 mania. But there is still a significant presence of real-life people. According to subredditstats.com, the subreddit has +700 comments per day, giving it a rank of 486. Not amazing, but certainly something. The subscriber level alone gives it a rank of 318 for all of reddit.

And on that note, /r/crypto is holding a giveaway. To celebrate a million subscribers to the subreddit, they are hosting a one million sat giveaway. That’s about $70. It’s no life changing amount but hey, why not give it a roll if you qualify?
