I recently read that Binance made a donation of $100,000 to a non-profit organization, further to the earthquake in Turkey.

This isn't the first time that a major crypto company has made a donation to a non-profit organization. For instance, Wikimedia Foundation received donations in Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Ethereum (ETH) from 2014 to 2021, and earlier this year, the Giving Block reported that crypto donations to non-profits had reached an all-time high of over $240 million in 2022.

While these donations are undoubtedly welcome, some have begun to question whether they are motivated by genuine altruism or by a desire to burnish the image of the crypto industry. After all, crypto companies have often been criticized for their lack of transparency and regulation.
