The important new features of upgraded Tron, Tron 4.0, have recently been teased by Justin Sun on Twitter and information has been released by the Tron Foundation. Below is a quick overview of the 4 new features included in Tron 4.0

1. Privacy

The main new feature of Tron 4.0 is privacy. The upgrade will allow private “shielding” of transactions and use of TRC-20 tokens, which could protect the amount and destination of the tokens. Additionally, the Tron Foundation’s update highlights the speed and cost (relative to Ethereum) of this new feature.

2. Consensus Mechanism

Looking at the new shielding feature, the new TPOS mechanism should allow for faster transactions by reducing block time among other features.

3. Cross-Chain

The third feature is cross-chain transactions, staking, and exchanges, which should allow different blockchains to interact on the TRON network.

4. Financial Institution and Enterprise Solutions

The final new feature appears to be to streamline the process of building on the Tron network by making it easier for companies and institutions to develop their solutions. I believe that if large institutions take advantage of this, the importance and reputation of the overall network could grow significantly.
