Intro
In this tutorial I will go through installing docker on a linux vps for free through linode.com. You will get a $100 credit when signing up and will expire 2 months after sign up.
Right away you will want to sign up to presearch if you haven't already. Please use my referral link if you're new https://presearch.org/signup?rid=2335005. You will also want to sign up to beta test presearch nodes. You can do this by navigating presearch.org and at the top you will see "Nodes" and from there sign up or go to this link https://nodes.presearch.org/dashboard. After a few days, they will approve you for the beta test. You will need a minimum of 1000 pre to stake per node you run to earn rewards. You can buy off the website for a premium or buy on uniswap/others
Next sign up to Linode.com and receive $100 credit by entering the promo code kvfdc321a6. If you did not receive your $100 credit contact support and they will add it to your account. I had to do this myself. When signing up please use my referral code https://www.linode.com/?r=8cd84d380de95f025a8038cfd4119351bd9ceced, if you plan on running the node longer than 2 months. Now that you have a Linode account you want to create your first Linode. I used Ubuntu 21.04, region is up to you. As far as I know, being close to the gateway does not effect rewards right now. It being related to latency. When picking the specs you will want to pick the 4 GB of RAM vps as is needed to run the node. Note that its only $20 a month so you should have some balance left over to expire after 2 months. Next Name it or leave it the same, also enter your root password. login will be root. To connect to your vps go to the linode page in the dashboard of the site. Click the three dots to the right and click on launch LISH console. Use your info to login.
Follow this set up to install docker https://docs.docker.com/engine/install/ubuntu/. Copy the commands and use ctrl and v to paste into the vps. Once you have been approved you will want to go into your node dashboard. Follow this https://docs.presearch.org/nodes/setup to setup your node. To mention and not let the credit go to waste you could equally stake on 2 vpses instead of 1 to earn double the rewards. If you have any questions please comment.
