The Mind's Escape
When darkness falls upon our mortal forms,
And suffering ensues beyond what's norm,
The mind, defensive, swiftly transforms
The grim of life into another storm.
A storm of fanciful delusions, where
The harshness faced cannot persist.
A new world is born of self-repair,
A dreamscape that the mind insists,
Is truth, though false it may appear,
A blanket numbing tragedy.
The mind will weave whatever gears
To mask life's painful veracity.
No matter how the body fares,
The spirit always finds a way
To flee from what the shell bears,
And dream the pain away.
