Where Dreams Take Flight

In fields of flowers I lay adrift,

Carried by winds, their whispers a gift.
Eyes closed in slumber, my spirit takes flight,
To realms of magic, where dreams ignite.

In this land unseen, wonders unfold,
Creatures of myth and legends of old.

Emerald hills stretch as far as I see,
Under skies endlessly cerulean and free.

I dance with the wind that embraces me tight,
In this realm where my dreams take to flight.
But too soon do I feel the breeze start to shift,
My ephemeral dream begins to drift.

The skies darken, the flowers decay,
An icy chill sweeps the magic away.
Creatures take flight, their eyes filled with fright,
As darkness descends on my dream-world of light.

The winds turn to screams, embraced by the night,
My spirit trapped here, unable to take flight.

No fields or flowers or emerald hills in sight,
Only shadows remain where dreams once shone bright.

I'm lost in this realm where nightmares ignite,
No magic, no light, just pure horror and fright.
I beg for escape but these worlds have no doors,
I'm trapped in a nightmare from which I can't soar.

So heed well this warning before dreams take flight -
Not all realms hold magic, some harvest your fright.
Now close your eyes tight and pray you don't drift,
To the land where nightmares are horrors' dark gift.
