BIRD IN A CAGE
My heart is a broken bird, jailed in a cage of pain,
It cannot sing or soar, It can only weep in vain.

My soul is a barren land, Burned by the fires of hell,
It cannot grow or bear fruit, It is lost to me, farewell.

My eyes are two pools of tears, That never seem to dry,
They reflect my shattered heart, And all I do is cry.

My lips are two pale shadows, That tremble in the wind,
They can only whisper, The words of my decline.

My hands are two empty shells, That hang at my sides,
They are useless now, To do anything but chide.

My feet are two leaden weights, That drag me down to earth,
They cannot carry me, To any place of mirth.

I am a man heartbroken, Lost and alone, I roam,
I do not know how to find my way, Back to the light of my home.

But I know that I must keep going, Even though it is hard,
For I know that there is hope, Even in the darkest yard.

And I know that one day, I will find my way back to the sun,
My heart will be healed, And my soul will be one.
