Every 5 minutes, one elephant is killed in Africa. The reason is poaching even though international sales of ivory is banned since 1990. Demand for ivory products growing in Asia mainly but there are still thriving domestic ivory markets in Africa too. There is a risk that elephants will disappear from the wild in 5 to 15 years.
