Since the days of LAWPunks, I have been putting my hopes on finding the next NFT project that is as successful, vibrant, and sustainable as LAWPunks. Over time, I have invested some 5 BCH into various projects, BCH that I bought Dollar Cost Averaging down since BCH was slightly above $600. Thankfully, I noted down the value of BCH in USD and MYR as well, so I know exactly how much I spent on the NFTs in fiat, not merely based on crypto prices that fluctuate every second.
So, here are my favorite NFT projects with staking on the smartBCH chain, in order of preference from first to last.
1. BlockNG.money's LAWPunks
This one only costs 0.01 BCH to mint but it's been rewarding me over and over again. Suffice to say, it was a quick recovery of capital.
It's just a no-brainer investment. My only regret is that I could have minted more but I can only say that these were my first NFTs and I had no idea what they were for. Token earned is LAW.
2. Spice Art
This is a low-key NFT project using real art by artists. These NFTs were not minted but bought. Unlike the other projects that used BCH, this used Spice token. I bought mine in Batch 1, which was priced at 150,000 Spice per NFT but at the time, the price was very high compared to now.
The best price was in Batch 2, where the price already dropped by 2/3 but the Spice required was the same. For Batch 3, though, the Spice needed was revised to 250,000. Although the price of Spice remained depressed, the volume of 250,000 was sizeable. Yet, even at 250,000, it was cheaper than Batch 1 NFTs.
Oh well, can't complain as I am getting rewarded with Spice tokens every minute, and my NFT, which I only purchased one, has already returned 50% of my capital on paper, as I still have yet to harvest my rewards.
3. Forgotten LADS
These creepy guys are finally being put to work on Tuesday with the launch of staking. The price to mint is 0.026 BCH each, and it is still ongoing. Although it might seem expensive, each Forgotten LADS NFT that is being minted comes with a Present LAD NFT, which means the price is only 50% of 0.026 BCH. Currently, only Forgotten LADS are stakable.
With the launch of staking, the NFT mint price could easily be raised but the developers decided against it, so that more investors can hold Forgotten LADS and be rewarded with a long-term passive income. The token earned is $LADS, with only a total supply of 1 million.
4. Tropical Finance NFT
These NFT collections are next on my list. I actually kind of regret getting them because they are way too pricey at 1.1 BCH, making me wonder how long it will take me to recover my capital. Again, my 1.1 BCH at the time it was spent was a lot higher than the current value.
I got a Daiqui Dude and a Tropical Gulls NFT and they are both earning Margarita passively. This new token is currently on pre-sale, but I think that it will be listed at around 7 cents. Huh... what a joke. How long can I recover my capital?
5. Joystick Club
Besides being the "key" to double rewards playing the arcade games on Joystick Club website, this project's Joybot NFTs can also be staked for points that can be converted to JOY tokens, albeit at a very low rate.
I got my Joybot NFT for free for holding a Puffer NFT. I was so dumb, I actually own two Puffers but did not know to transfer one of the Puffers to another wallet to mint another Joybot for free. Joybot minting is still ongoing currently, at 500 JOY each. The price of JOY is so much higher now that the price of the Joybot is getting more and more expensive. On oasis.cash, Joybots floor price is already 0.08 BCH.
6. NFTClub
Of the six NFT projects that already have staking that I know of, this is my least favorite. The issue is that there are just too many projects linked to one, causing me to tie up more of my capital in just this one project.
Moreover, the reward can only be harvested when it reaches 200, and there is still no real-world value to the token - at least not that I can see. The reward token is NFTC, which is not currently tradable yet.
Honestly, waiting for NFT projects to move, with capital tied, is the hardest. On one hand, you hope that the project kicks off, and on the other hand, you do wonder if it will ever be launched as one day rolls into another, month after month. It's bad that I don't have the time to trade so I just hold on to them with no interest on the capital invested. Moreover, with the low volume that I mint, I have no hope of minting the rare ones, that I could sell for a profit, or stake at a higher reward tier.
