People laugh

and wave at each other from the window,
they are happy, despite the rent
and the current state of the world. They are happy.
People kiss each other on the mouth,
I have seen them. They sit in the park
and feed the birds,
they open the day and close their eyes,
and the sun makes them transparent.
People smile, talk, love each other.
They take the dog out, bite an apple, look
at the leaf sleeping in the wind.
I see that people laugh.
I put a hand to my mouth, amazed.
