Hello again! I hope to wrap up my part of the story with this entry, continuing where Lucas left off.

We had left off with Marcos deciding whether to break up with Claudia.
But first, let me tell you something that happened. Claudia had very few friends—maybe due to her personality, though I couldn’t say for sure. One day, she introduced us to a friend of hers. Marcos gave him a bit of trust, and the guy confided something personal about his sexual orientation. Personally, I wouldn’t have made a big deal out of it—everyone should be free to be who they are—but for Marcos, it was. The whole group ended up finding out, despite the guy explicitly asking Marcos to keep it private. They stopped speaking after that. Marcos had a tendency to run his mouth and often didn’t know when to keep it shut.

Summer was nearly over, and our star character, Marcos, faced two crossroads. First, he was at risk of repeating the school year because he had failed five subjects and hadn’t done anything to fix it. He hadn’t touched a book all summer. (Though he used that excuse to avoid seeing Claudia—let’s be clear, he was a terrible student. I had to say it, Lucas, stop giving me that look.) In the end, of course, he repeated the year, though he did manage to pass two subjects.

Second, he decided to take a break from Claudia. She had started talking to her ex again, and for once, Marcos had an easy excuse to ask for time apart. I believe they stayed apart for several weeks before getting back together as if nothing had happened.

Marcos made the most of the situation during that time. Then things took a turn for the bizarre. First, they broke up—which, on its own, isn’t strange. That’s perfectly normal. The issue was why they broke up.

Claudia’s ex-boyfriend faked his own death—yes, you read that correctly—to get Claudia’s attention. And she believed him! When she told Marcos, he was shocked. He already knew the guy was a fraud, and it annoyed him that Claudia kept bringing him up. For Marcos to complain, he had to be seriously fed up. And the whole faking-your-own-death stunt was the last straw.

That incident led to their breakup. You might think it had to be Marcos who ended things—it would’ve been the most fair—and yes, it was him. But it took him a while. He even tried to remain friends with her, though he later reconsidered. Claudia was a difficult girlfriend, so imagine having her as an ex.

Marcos thought he would never hear from her again. Poor guy—how wrong he was.
