With the new DYGYCON event brought to you by the Splinterlands team, attending is a lot easier than some of the other digital conferences that you may have attended over the past year. Still, there are certain things that you need to know, especially if you want to give yourself every opportunity and participate in every chance to win!
Let's get into a simple checklist of things you'll need to have ready for DYGYCON, so that you can spend a few hours talking, playing, laughing and networking with new friends.
A Splinterlands Account
Because this event was created by Splinterlands, a game that makes owning and transferring in-game assets very simple, many of the giveaways, auctions and games are involved with your Splinterlands account. You can create an account for free, but when you purchase the one-time upgrade of the Summoner's Spellbook, your Splinterlands account becomes a full-on HIVE blockchain account that allows you to transact in many ways on the HIVE blockchain.
With you HIVE account, you'll be able to blog for rewards on Peak.com, publish financial analyses on Leo Finance, even share exclusive Splinterlands content on Splintertalk.io to be rewarded in the stakeable blogging token of Splinterlands: Splintertalk. There are countless other Dapps built on HIVE as well, including other games such as DCity and Rising Star, decentralized exchanges such as HIVE-Engine, where tokenized Splinterlands assets can be traded, and even NFT Showroom, the hub for NFT art creators and collectors on HIVE.
A WAX Wallet
WAX (the Worldwide Asset eXchange) is another blockchain that hosts many Dapps and platforms for the creation and collection of non-fungible tokens. The favorite of these is Atomic Hub, where the majority of companies turn for their gaming and collectible WAX NFT releases.
At Splinterlands.Atomichub.io, you'll find the official Splinterlands WAX market, where individual cards, Booster Packs and land claims can be bought and sold on the peer 2 peer market.
Because WAX has the easiest-to-use tools for creation of free NFTs (no gas), DYGYCON has chosen the WAX blockchain for the creation of all our Achievement Badges. This means that to be eligible to receive any of them for your interactions at the event, you'll need to submit a WAX wallet to the form you'll find at the DYGYCON SWAG Booth.
Don't worry, creating a WAX wallet is simple and free using the WAX Cloud Wallet. Once you have created a WAX wallet, be sure to link it to your Splinterlands account. This will allow you to make Credit purchases using WAX directly from your Cloud Wallet, but it will also get you exclusive access to special promotions, drops and releases that happen from time to time in Splinterlands.
HINT: At the event, Splinterlands and UltraRare Collectibles will be announcing the launch of a new collaborative release, but to take part, you have to have a linked WAX wallet to your Splinterlands account. ;)
An ETH Address
Nearly everyone in the crypto space is familiar with the Ethereum blockchain. While there will not be many Ethereum-based NFTs going around at DYGYCON, there will be a few, including the proof-of-attendance badge minted by POAP.xyz, the proof-of-attendance protocol.
To get a free Ethereum wallet, visit Metamask.io to download and install the Metamask wallet, the most popular wallet for Ethereum tokens.
A Microphone
The digital Expo created by Gamerjibe Social is made for real interaction. With its help, DYGYCON has all the functionality of a web conferencing platform like Skype or Discord while still holding the fun value of a game and the charm of a real-life event.
While it is not required for you to have a microphone, it is highly encouraged to use your voice. We understand that not everyone out there speaks conversational English, and we also understand that there are always certain limitations that will prevent guests from speaking with a microphone. We want you all to know the magic of being able to strike up an impromptu conversation with anyone who shares the space with you, just like in real life. This feature has created countless partnerships, friendships and networking opportunities for our friends already, and we want everyone to experience its potential for themselves.
If you don't have a microphone and don't have time to pick one up before tomorrow's event, please consider getting one before the next DYGYCON. Digital and virtual events are not going anywhere. On the contrary, you'll continue seeing more and more of them; don't divide yourself by cutting off your own voice, because you may be missing out on something huge.
A Computer
DYGYCON is not made for an excellent mobile experience. There may be some workarounds and some ways that you can interact with the environment on a mobile device, but you should realize that this browser-based space was created to be enjoyed on a computer.
You can attend with a light laptop (like a Chromebook) as long as there is browser capability. We have heard of some success using certain tablets, but the experience is less than ideal. We apologize if non-mobile means that you are not able to enjoy the event, and we hope that you will use us as an excuse to consider investing in a home computer or laptop.
A Desire to Make Friends
We have included this in the checklist because it is one of the most important reasons that the DYGYCON conference was created. Not only do we (Splinterlands) want to make as many friends as we can collect in this space, but we want you to do the same. Why? Because we're all stronger together. When we can learn about each other's projects, understand how different ideas and different blockchains work, and create teamwork among ourselves, then we're all winning together.
DYGYCON was specifically designed so that you can make real friends and real connections in the space. When surrounded by so many people with whom you have so much in common, it's easier than you may think. Plus, with the calming and fun avatar approach, we can all leave our anxieties at the door and become the outgoing and fun-loving people that we (should) always strive to be.
Pre-Register
Make sure you pre-register for the event USING THIS LINK. It is not required, but by pre-registering you will be notified via email when DYGYCON goes live. When you try to enter the event early, there will be a prompt for a secret code. Once the event is live, there will be no code prompt. Think of the code as a locked door, so that organizers, sponsors and VIPs can access the space before the event.
