(There are many things I am loving about Mauritius, and I think the food might be my favorite so far).

We traveled deep into the rural areas of Mauritius's main island to meet two AMAZING grandmothers, who welcomed us into their houses and cooked us one of the best local meals I've had in recent memory.

Marie-Michelle and Brigitte started their business 5 years ago called Kot Marie-Michelle -- a reservation-only restaurant and cooking-class of Mauritian cuisine in the comfort of their own home.

Every fruit, vegetable, meat and spice you will find here is homegrown and prepared, as fresh as it gets.

This video is about our experience today at their house, and the story of how they got started from picking sugarcane in the nearby fields to cooking the best Mauritian food you can find on the island.
