She Cooks for 100 People! (in Timor-Leste)
When you travel, you never know which inspiring people you will meet (especially those who can cook!).
This is perhaps the most rewarding part about going abroad! Yesterday, I had the pleasure to meet a young lady named Zaida -- who not only founded the 'top' restaurant in Dili, Timor-Leste -- but she cooks ALL the food single-handedly!
Whether there is 1 guest or 100 guests, she will have her hands busy in the kitchen (and I can attest that her food is AMAZING).
Zaida has a very interesting background, coming from Guinea-Bissau, spending most of her life in Portugal and now the last decade in Timor-Leste.
All 3 countries are geographical opposites, but they are binded together by the Portuguese language (yes, they speak Portuguese in Timor-Leste!)
Her food is a combination of Portuguese, West African and Southeast Asian flavors.
If you ever find yourself in Timor-Leste., you need to stop by her restaurant for a bite to eat! P.S.
This video was impromptu -- my friend Nata (from yesterday's video) told me about Zaida, and I spontaneously decided to make this video.
Zaida is quite shy on camera, so we had to motivate her extra hard to film :)
