More than ever, I feel like I need to make this space more informative and more useful for you, the readers. So I´m going to start sharing a study I´ve been working on about cartoonists who became successful and whose classic comic strips are still popular to this day. Obviously, I´ll have to use a lot of copyrighted material, but I´ll always include links to the original sources so they can get the proper credit.

  I decided to do this study because, as a cartoonist myself, I need to expand my knowledge about a few things:

  what is a cartoonist´s worldview?

  how does the social evironment they live in influence their work?

  what shapes the way a cartoonist thinks?

  what techniques and habits are part of their creative process?

  I´m sure that ,by looking for answer to these questions, I´ll come across ideas that I can apply to my own work.

  There`s one habit I already know is common among soccessful cartoonists: drawing every single day. That´s the first rule. None of the orther rules really matter if you don´t practice!

  I´m sure this study will be incredibly valuable for my work, because there are cartoonists out there with truly amazing ideas. Every day I see comic strips and find myself thinking, "Man. I could have come up with more talent, more culture, more knowledge, better drawing skill, and a better sense of illustration got there first. 

  But while I gather information and research the subject, I can´t stop drawing. Drawing is what keeps me alive. knowing that, after everything that has happened to me and all the mediocre jobs I´ve had, the desire to draw has never left me alone.

And when I talk about practice, I don´t mean drawing beautiful, perfect lines, it´s not about realism. A cartoonist can make nothing but a few scribbles, but those scribbles still have to say someting.

they have to make you think, laugh, cry, get angry... They have to make you something when you look at and analyze what´s happening in that little comic panel.

  That´s the magic of being a cartoonist.

  More and more, I´m realizing that there are a lot of things I´m going to have to leave behind if I want to move forward with my calling.

  When you leave me a tip, you´re pushing back against the life society expects me to live. you´re helping pull someone out of a dead-end  job and giving him a chance to become a cartoonist-to turn this into a life project, the thing I was born to do.
