What is Presearch?

Presearch is an open, decentralized search engine that rewards community members with Presearch Tokens for their usage, contribution to, and promotion of the platform.

In a world where one company controls 77% of all searches, influencing trillions of dollars in spending, shaping perceptions and effectively acting as the primary gatekeeper to the Internet, a new, open and community-driven search engine is a necessity.

Presearch has an innovative go-to-market strategy to target the most frequent searchers - web workers - and gain early adoption, on our way to releasing future versions of the open source platform that will utilize a blockchain-based index, curated by the community.

As some of you already know, on 31st July Presearch released new Vision Paper including new roadmap and everything regarding decentralized search engine , tokenomics and much more. Yesterday one of the first Presearch Community AMAs with a new CTO Trey Grainger. Firstly let me introduce you with Trey.

Who is Trey Graigner?

Trey is the Founder @ Searchkernel, former Chief Algorithms Officer and SVP of Engineering @ Lucidworks, Author of AI-Powered Search and Solr in Action, Advisor to Presearch and the Southern Data Science Conference, Investor in multiple startups (primarily tech companies focusing on blockchain, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and education), and most lately new CTO of Presearch.

He is a frequent Public Speaker on Search and Data Science at numerous conferences around the world. He is also a Frequently Published Researcher, with years of research papers and journal articles across the spectrum of search & information retrieval, recommendation systems, data science, and analytics.

What we learned from AMA?

Account-to-account transfers

As most of already known that we have a problem with ETH gas prices. He said that Presearch is planning on a feature to enable PRE tokenholders who hold PRE in their Presearch accounts transact with other users just with entering e-mail address of another PRE holder. This will allow account-to-account transfers to occur on the blockchain directly without paying current gas prices.

Community driven default search providers

Currently Presearch have a 128 search providers with the option for every user to add it's own custom provider. The default  list is currently global, and he said there will be option where community can stake their tokens for their favorite providers and that providers can stake to be at the deffault providers list. He also said they, currently, don't have plans to localize providers based on country or language. 

One node - One IP address 

He said that you can run multiple nodes per account if you have more than one IP address.

No Presearch owned data centers

Until nodes are fully released Presearch will be operating their own cloud-based infrastructure to ensure that the network has enough resources to operate.But, in the future when the network is large enough he said they won't need these. Also, he mentioned that in the future it's very likely that some node operators will have their own data centers. Because the model they want is decentralization of the network not a centralized run by the Presearch organization.

How will nodes get their traffic?

He said that at their first release nodes will get equally allocated traffic across them with a bias toward more reliable ones, since they provide better search experience. As more nodes are released the process will be more complicated but with same principles.

2. Preffering nodes with a higher stake when there is too much capacity

Presearch won't have their own blockchain

He said that security levels are high enough not to worry about potential hacks and that they have defense mechanisms in case of eventual attack. He said that PRE is a utility token used as the store of value and mechanism for transferring value within the Presearch platform. He also said that in case it's needed they could swap the token.

Advertisers will need to pay both Fiat and PRE

In either case the value gets pushed back into the token so it doesn't really matter which one is, but the balance is needed.

Real goal is to enable the community to contribute code and algorithms

That's the way to enable smart and bright people to help Presearch success. They will be rewarded with PRE based on the value they contribute.
