I’m sure I speak the same for many of you: Publish0x has truly enriched my life. I have only been using it for a year, but I seriously cannot fathom life without it. So entrenched it is in my daily routine.
Though I will say it took me some time to reach this equilibrium of emotional well-being and accept the sprinkling of joy Publish0x initiates in my life. So I thought this would be a great topic to explore for today!
First off, I think it’s fair to say that most of us stumbled upon Publish0x because of its crypto tips and rewards. That’s why I took the plunge to become a writer here actually. I realised that being a reader would take me forever to cash out my petty earnings. However, I realised that intrinsic motivation is key to being happy as a Publish0x writer. If you keep staring at your tips and willing them to increase, you are likely to feel quite miserable because the topics you pour your heart and soul into may not come across as interesting to the readers. If you use money to deem the effort you put into writing as worthwhile, you will be trapped on an emotional rollercoaster ride.
It may sound egocentric of me to say this, but I opine that my writing must spark joy to me first and foremost. Of course, I must practise empathy and put myself in the shoes of my readers so that I don’t pen self-indulgent posts. But pandering to what I think my readers will like will put me on the skewed side of a weighing scale, much like a hamster working for treats. So, I aim to feel a sense of accomplishment every time I press ‘Publish’ on an article. Any tips will serve as a bonus.
So I will suggest that we calibrate ourselves such that our self-worth is not tied to the amount of tips or followers we attain. Writing is its own reward, and if your writing finds resonance with a group of like-minded people and turns them into hard-core supporters, all the power to you.
Aside from putting your heart into writing, taking risks with your writing helps to expand your capabilities. According to the Self-Determination Theory, people feel more motivated when they feel that they are becoming more competent. I don’t necessarily think that I have become a better writer since I rely on the same tired phrases and expressions, lol. However, I do think I have become a more versatile writer. One year ago, if you told me that I would grow comfortable writing about the technical implications of BTC halving and ETH merge, I would have shook my head vigorously. But it’s like carrying a calf every day until it becomes a full-grown bull. When you do it every day, you improve incrementally. These seemingly insignificant gains will add up until you realise that you are no longer the same writer you were. You have reached the summit of a small mountain - and are energised to climb the next mountain.
The third way to make myself happy at Publish0x is to remain appreciative and grateful of all comments that I receive. Actually, even when an article doesn’t gain much tips, I will be over the moon if someone says how she or he has related to my article and derived something out of it - an insight, a stirring of a cherished memory, even a contrarian opinion. People are kind here and go the extra mile to share something of themselves - which makes for a pleasant user experience at Publish0x all round. I have also developed a thicker skin and accepted criticism with calmness. Sometimes, I get called out for doing inaccurate reporting, so I will make sure that I edit my article so that an accurate state of affairs is reflected. Comments are like ripples spreading on a water surface when you throw a stone. Much better than stagnant water that is ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes!
Ending this with some inspired lines from Pharrell Williams: Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
