Fighting the Daily Grind #4

How far would you go to earn a few cents? Let me share with you my limits. I shared before that I recycle my rough papers and preloved books through a recycling program in my country: #387439 This morning, I took both of my kids to school. I also lugged along my bag, which comprised 6kg of waste papers and books. After dropping them off, I had to walk for 15 minutes to the nearest paper recycling machine. Imagine my horror when I realised that the touch screen had become insensitive to my touch.   I pressed and I pressed and I pressed, but no digit showed up on the screen. 10-15 mins went past just like that. I debated whether I had to lug my heavy bag home. Just when I was about to give up, I realised that I could key in the digit if I used two of my fingers to hold it. Laboriously, I keyed in all eight digits of my hp number before I could get the machine to move to the next page: the icon to press before it would open its mouth. To my horror, it didn’t respond to my touch. Time ran out, and I had to key in all 8 digits of my number again. Of course, KL Sensei refused to give up. I tried again, and eventually the machine opened its mouth. I immediately dumped all my materials for 20 cents. aHR0cHM6Ly9tLnN0YWNrZXIubmV3cy8xNjAzMg All proceeds from recycling go straight towards my son’s college fund. I hope he realises how dedicated his daddy was when he grows up in the future.
