From the Files of the Oral Examiner
2022 Day 5
Topic: Playing Games
I have been an oral examiner many a time, but this experience was particularly impactful for me because I felt that two candidates taught me new things about e-gaming. Even though they were passionate about e-gaming, they could rationally evaluate its pros and cons -- backed by statistics incidentally -- before coming to a conclusion about not wanting to turn professional. I felt that their sharing helped me gain a more nuanced understanding of the country I live in. Yet another student dug deep into himself and suggested taking young children to Pasir Ris Park. Apparently, he was a fishing enthusiast and felt that it would be easy for him to engage children if they could fish in a place "where fish bite easily". Bonus points for his desire to inculcate the virtue of patience in them.
1. In the video, what might the people assisting the children find interesting or difficult about their jobs? (Children engaged in games)
2. Tell me about any games you like playing at home or in other places.
3. Some people say that playing games are a waste of time. Do you agree? Why, or why not?
Scored for vocabulary: strategise, execute, perspective, genre, it depends on the situation, realistic, stimulate, flight simulations, schedule, play moderately
