So I teach at the same school as my first-grader son. This term, his behaviour has been eccentric of late. He disrupts the class and creates so much ruckus that his Maths teacher wastes thirty minutes trying to manage him.

Today takes the cake as he stood on a chair, refused to do Spelling and cooperate with his English teacher, and even scolded her “you stupid b****”.
So I got to know of this incident when I met him at the school hall during dismissal. I wasn’t emotional but I raised my voice because I thought it was an appropriate thing to do so that he could realise the grave seriousness of his actions.

I’m thick-skinned so I don’t let myself go down the route of “I’m scolding other parents’ children so that they will toe in their behaviour and yet my own son cannot behave, thus bringing me shame”. But I am perplexed by his behaviour. He said that he was bored. I have informed my wife. She is going to talk to him. I guess I’m posting this to see what insights you can shed on this matter.
