As a writer of several novels and plenty of short stories, I’ve focused on Substack and Medium. However, as an old IT professional, I’m intrigued by crypto/blockchain. So, I’m moving into this new Web3 realm to learn and, hopefully, see if there is an interest in fiction stories on this platform. While an initial look into Publish0x seems to indicate an overwhelming amount of focus on the technology/finance sectors, I’m curious to see if there are others like me on this site.
As part of my initial research, I did a quick analysis of users coming from Google organically. My findings came up with Steemit getting about 1.5million per month while Peakd.com gets over 220k per month from Google. Interestingly, Publish0x peaked at 100k organic users from Google search in Dec 2023 and slowly fell to about 25k recently.
Just a quick review of the number of projects in the largest backed cryptos seem to focus on blockchain architecture between Layer 1 and 2. The app development for users seems to focus on games and exchanges which shows to me that block-chain is just too immature yet. It leads me to believe Web3 remains in the infancy stage. I find it similar to the Web2 years before the big search engine and shopping site took hold (i.e. Google and Amazon).
The other item I've not discovered is a way to find a consolidated site with information about Web3 platforms/sites. However, I’m a relative newbie, so if you have a suggestion, I’d love to hear it.
Obviously, I’m interested in publishing/writing platforms. For writers, it seems some of the information and implementation pushes strongly in using NFT. However, places like Open Seas does not look like a good place for novels/stories to complete with digital art work. No doubt, projects will come along to create better search engine(s) and search functionality, along with specialized marketplace platforms for many users who are not tech savvy.
THIS BLOG’S FUTURE:
The first thing I'll need to get used to is the lack of auto spell check in the blog. After that, I'll be posting new short stories with artwork (similar to a light novel) on a regular basis. I hope you'll stop by and let me know your thoughts.
BTW: You can catch some of my stories on Morbid Ink on the web2 side.
