...TL;DR How to & Why We Should download & Run GETH & IPFS (Inter-Planetary File System) Desktop Client; Becoming Nodes On Ethereum Blockchain.
Reposted the link to IPFS to my facebook and decided to write an entire piece for posting to #Publish0x since the last month has seen my reader numbers go from 100/article to 500/day regarding Crypto Currency pieces on all topics relative to The CryptoVerse.
A few months ago I dropped some knowledge on Web3, and now am taking it to the next level with encouraging that we all become part of the Web3 and assist the Decentralized Web Data flow by becoming nodes, its perfectly safe for your PC, low HDD space and low RAM usage, the more nodes the faster the network.

#GetYourGeekOn #KeepDevsInspired #OpenSource
Why choose to become a node on either #GETH or# IPFS or both? Well unlike server technology #Blockchain technology is vastly different it relies on us as end users; creators, contributors, developers and end users alike to become "NODES" and help the computational strength of both the blockchain network and also the accessibility of the blockchain data, this is not to say that, that data is stored on my system that would be impossible, it means I am one of many connector points to the network.
Given the decision to work on #DeFi projects for with intention to deploy at later stages to the Ethereum, network and it's many various "elastic chains" my new rig is now a node for both GETH and the IPFS.
The Inter-Planetary File System #IPFS is one of the biggest #Ethereum projects on #Web3, after a few days trial and error and a tonne of command script flaws, it is running! (Windows install is much easier but less flexible for devs, and not so stable with BSOD happening on Win10 constantly).
#Linux users the option to install via the #snapd store is never going to work (tried dozens of times and a few different ways same constant reported error everytime). Here is where to install GO - language and also the IPFS install via GitHub (Thanks guys what would we do without you!!!) for linux #OpenSUSE
To set up IPFS, you will need GO (programming language) installed on your system, this took a while also but is essential for Go-Ethereum/ #GETH and also IPFS
Installing Go-Ethereum/GETH The Ethereum Network Node Terminal. GETH covers;
- Turns you to a Validator of Blockchain Tx's, your system will house the entire encrypted blockchain public distributed ledger (ledger of Tx's only not crypto)
- Testnet and Mainnet Access
- Creation of official Ethereum ETH wallet on The Ethereum Mainnet
- Ability to compile, test and deploy Smart Contracts written in Solidity compiler (to be connected to GETH, Javascript console/compiler built into GETH.
- Direct CPU mining of Ether
- Capability of creating an Ethereum Network linked directly to the Ethereum Mainnet right from the command line
- Send and receive ETH between official ETH wallet addresses without the need for a crypto wallet app
- And other things...(DYOR Read the Manual)
#TakeTwo #GoEthereum Install this time manually on #Linux #OpenSUSE windows install let me see what was up, and got play on the compiler and check the settings etc, Win10 kept crashin, IMO #opensource #blockchain #code #programming is best done on Linux OS systems or Linux VM (Virtual Machine in Windows. This post is for everyone interested in #BlockchainTechnology and #Cryptocurrency #Development for #dApps (#Decentralized Applications) and other projects or ecosystems in the cryptocurrency #metaverse orbiting #Bitcoin
GO Language install from here (Manual command line install works best everytime)
Github Golang/Go
Install Go Lang/Go GitHub Repo
Go Lang Main Page

OpenSUSE install (this took days to find)

Any #Solidity developers should be running Go #ethereum and also the #IPFS download IMHO. #OpenSource #LetsDesign #TheFuture #SaveTheWorld We all live in an Outer Dystopia, Inner Utopia now.
[Latest releases of Solidity as of last week ;
0.8.7

Solidity is ever changing, so bookmark the page, since personally downloading last October it has gone from 0.5.x to 0.8.x]
Who should get involved in learning #SmartContracts and Cryptocurrency development?
ANYONE working in the current/conventional traditional Finance and Economics Industry, as the future of Global Economics is now a triple helix between ForEx | Stockmarket | DeFi (Decentralized Finance)
- Accountants
- Bankers
- Consultants
- Financial Advisors
- Investment Brokers
- Stocks/Share Traders.
Also it would benefit persons in the Legal sector since Smart Contracts exist for large volume high priced investment assets; Houses, Luxury cars, Luxe Vehicles and Priced Possessions.
It would be great to see more Lawyers releasing papers and POV articles and documents relating to their take on the entire industry and implementation of Smart Contract #DigitalHandshakes in place of 3rd Party Centralized Institutions to execute big ticket transactions across borders absent F2F P2P business dealings, yet still conducting and transacting huge volume priced asset movement.
Blockchain is the #WorldWithoutBorders, we currently live a Dystopian Utopia, Dystopia outside and Utopia inside #ThinkAboutIt
After you install GO for your Linux you will need to visit the #GitHub repository for IPFS desktop. (It can be done as command line also and looks like something from the 1980's/1990s programming in BASIC or MSDOS days. Yup I'm old, those days were before I was teenager, my Dad used to give me programming books to read when only 7/8 years old leading me to write my first batch files and was creating shortcuts to run multiple applications in MSDOS before age 10...missed my calling perhaps.)
Here is the github link to download the IPFS desktop app, again if you are super tech savvy then go command line, but stable versions for Windows | MacOS | Linux are found here.

After running it for 24 hours, and checking my node peers, think that I am the only IPFS representative in The Philippines based on being the only Filipino flag in the drop down list of peer nodes this session, and possibly the OpenSUSE system node in the whole world. #Eth #Constellations #EthereumNetwork #becomeanode, this is/was possibly the case for GETH also suprising since it's so easy to install and if the aim is to become an Ether Dev for what ever sector of DeFi and CryptoSpace why wouldn't you?

Digression...
Hit me up if you want to DL a copy of either. GETH is hard to DL for windows, I managed to find a copy and zipped it into a folder available via a google drive link to my personal library of books, papers, programming languages, codices and the software installers for the main programming languages of the blockchains ; C~#, Javascript, Python, & Solidity and then HTML and CSS.
The last 19 months has reignited a passion for #ComputerScience and the development of #InformationTechnology which hasn't really been looked at much since just after HS grad.
Still a Novice though...
In the last year have made this #crypto resource library.
All Things Blockchain
And have been receiving PDFs daily from www.academia.edu
and collecting papers and docs from all over the web.
Solidity & Smart Contracts - All Things Ethereum
Now when you decide that a sidetrack into blockchain studies and cryptocurrency is what needs to be devoted to during lockdown, you should get serious enough to be part of the global network, running GETH makes you a node on the #Mainnet and running The IPFS (The Inter-Planetary File System) desktop app or the browser companion directly connects you to what is the future of blockchain storage on the #web3 and also to become the biggest P2P networked serverless blockchain storage. IPFS is where bulk digital assets are stored such as #NonFungibleTokens, and the web3 live.

Thanks for reading! As appended side note GETH will eat up a minimum of 4GB System RAM so only run the software for The Ethereum Network if you have greater than 8Gb RAM and unlike IPFS, GETH is used to validate the transactions allocated to the blocks, so it actually stores blockchain data on your HDD, this is how blockchain Tech works, it will constantly update, and will not be suitable for unstable internet connections (leads to dropped blocks and Tx delays) or low HDD storage space. ;)
IPFS takes up minimal disk space and RAM used is very low. In the future we will all need to run this, for NFT Creators running IPFS, GETH & Solidity puts you at an immediate advantage, giving you the ability to write your own custom design smart contracts for the NFT ERC721 standard, tailoring the details and then being able to test costs of bulk deployment tp the Ethereum Mainnet given that your IPFS node reference in the NFT contract is your own address. ;)
Currently writing schematics for developing a project which directly links to the dApp game and also piecing together another article to drop on Publish0x regarding bulk minting NFTs and what platforms exist.
Get at me for collaborations or brainstorming ANY blockchain based project concepts and ideas you may wish to initiate and eventually deploy for the benefit of our present futures and the future's future.
