Origin Protocol is a platform that suppers peer-to-peer marketplaces and decentralized commerce. It is a set of tools and standards that allow anybody to create a decentralized market palace.
What's more, their $OUSD token has unique characteristics which I'll describe in a separate article.
Following is a list of individual investors and venture capital firms that are known to have already invested in the Origin Protocol.
Steve Chen is one of the co-founders of YouTube and is an investor in Origin Protocol. Chen decided to invest into Origin Protocol due to the fact that some of the Origin team had previously worked with him at YouTube and he believed that they are competent to bring Origin to the masses.
Born in Taiwan, Chen would study Computer Science at the University of Illinois and would start to work as a Software Engineer at PayPal upon graduating He would move on to become an Engineering Manager at eBay before co-founding YouTube in July 2005.
Since co-founding YouTube, Chen has co-founded AVOS Systems, an internet company, and worked as the CTO at Nom Labs. He currently has no active roles in any company according to his LinkedIn - although, he an advisor to 451 Media Group, SparkLabs Taipei, and GV.

Alexis Ohanian is best known for being the co-founder of Reddit. Born in Brooklyn, Ohanian would study History at the University of Virginia and worked as a waiter for Pizza Hut and a Parking Garage Assistant to make ends meet. He would instantly co-found Reddit after graduating - although it took some time for the platform to truly take off.
During the early years of Reddit, he would work as a product manager for Conde Nast Publications. He also worked as an advisor and marketing director at Hipmunk. He would invest in Origin Protocol in April 2018.
His latest company is Seven Seven Six which he founded in 2020.

Garry Tan is the founder and managing partner at Initialized Capital. Tan studied Computer Systems Engineering at Stanford University and would become a Program Manager at Microsoft after graduation.
Tan would go on to be the Lead Engineer at Palantir Technologies before becoming a Cofounder for Posterous.com, an online email posting platform which would turn into Posthaven in March 2013 - a blogging platform. He would become a Partner at Y Combinator in December 2010.
Tan would invest in Origin protocol in April 2019 in their Corporate Funding round.

Gil Penchina is an angel investor and a current partner at Ridge Ventures. Penchina would study Industrial Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and would earn an MBA from Kellogg School of Business in 1997.
Before studying for his MBA, he would work as a manufacturing manager at General Electric. Upon achieving his MBA, Penchine started to work at eBay. He started out as a Business Development Manager and worked his way up to the Vice President of Business Development over his 7-year tenure.
After leaving eBay, Penchina would work as the CEO at Wikia.com and would become a board member at Fastly before becoming a partner at Ridge Ventures.
Interestingly, according to Crunchbase, Penchina has not made any notable investments since investing in Origin protocol in April 2018.

Steve Jang is the founder and managing partner at Kindred Ventures, a seed-stage venture fund that invests in the earliest stage rounds of startups. Jang studied English Literature at the University of California and would earn his MBA at the Marshall School of Business.
He started his career as a Research Analyst at WR Hambrecht. He would move on to be a Director of Digital Development for EMI Music and be the Head of Business Development at imeem in 2005.
Kindred Ventures was founded in July 2014 and he still acts as the managing partner here. On top of this, Jang is an advisor for Expa and Uber.

Kamal Ravikant is an entrepreneur and author of the book “Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It”. Born in New Delhi, Ravikant would study Economics and Biology at the University of Rochester after moving to the USA.
Ravikant is best known for being the brother of Naval Ravikant, the founder of AngelList. He was the founder and CEO of his own company, Reventics, a company that developers Web-based applications for mobile phones to help find friends and family on a map - however, the company is now closed.

Randall Kaplan is an entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He is the co-founder of Akamai Technologies, a company that provides Content Delivery Network (CDN) services. Kaplan would study at the University of Michigan and would become the Managing Director at SunAmerica three years after graduating.
He would co-found Akamai Technologies in 1998 and would leave 1 year later. Currently, he serves on the Board of Advisors for EDO Inc, a data science software company, and PartySlate, a digital platform for event professionals. On top of this, he is also the CEO and founder fro CollarCard, a promotional products company, JUMP Investors, a venture capital firm, and Sandee, a travel company.

Paul Veradittakit is an investor at Pantera Capital and Board Member at Blockfolio. Paul studied at the University of California island eventually graduated in 2005. Before joining Pantera Capital as a Partner in 2014, Paul would work as an associate at Strive Capital with a focus on investing in the mobile space.
At Pantera, Paul is busy with many activities ranging from negotiating deals, delegating operations, or solving portfolio problems.

Joey Krug is the Co-Chief Investment Officer at Pantera Capital, one of the largest blockchain investment firms, and a Core Dev for Augur, a blockchain-based prediction market.
After graduating from Knoxville High School in 2013, Krug went on to study computer science at Pomona College. It seemed that college was not the right route for Krug as he would later drop out a year later.
After dropping out, Krug would start out as a game developer before founding MariPoS, a Bitcoin point-of-sale service, in 2014. He would then go on to become a technical advisor for a number of AI, machine learning, and blockchain projects - some of which he still works at today.

1 .Pantera Capital
Pantera Capital was the first USA-based Bitcoin investment firm that started investing in the cryptocurrency space in 2013. The venture capital firm is one of the largest institutional owners of cryptocurrencies and is exclusively focused on investing in blockchain technologies.
The firm currently has $335 million under management with 59 employees.
Along with venture investments, Pantera Capital also has a number of ICO fund investments in a range of different protocols including 0x protocol, Celer, Codex, Data, Bloom, Icon, Kin, and Kyber.
2. Spartan Group
The Spartan Group is an investment and advisory blockchain firm based in Singapore. The firm was founded by Melody He, Casper Johansen, and Kelvin Koh. All of the other founders are stated to be Goldman Sachs alumni with deep relations in the banking, venture capital, private equity, and hedge fund sectors.
Spartan Group can boast partnerships with Blockstack to help the project gain presence in Asia. It also has a partnership with IBM in which the two have joined together to accelerate the demand for digital-asset-based products.
So far, Spartan Group has two investments; Blockstacks and Ampleforth.
3. Foundation Capital
Foundation Capital was founded in 1995 by Bille Elmore, Kathryn Gould, and Jim Anderson. It is an early-stage venture capital firm that manages over $2.4 billion in assets. Also invested in 2nd Address, Algorand, AutoGrid, Blockstack, Brave, Calix, Coverwallet, KIK, Netflix, Moxie, Peerspace, Pocket, and Solana.
4. Blocktower Capital
BlockTower Capital was launched in 2017 by Ari Paul and Matthew Goetz, and already has around $130 million in assets under management. It is a leading cryptocurrency investment firm that brings professional trading and portfolio management to its clients. They have also invested in Cred, RightMesh, TrustToken, Hedera Hashgraph, Solana, and Dapper Labs.
1kx is an early stage token fund with a focus on investing in remittance, computation, storage, prediction, and power sectors. Based in Amsterdam, the company was founded in 2017 by Christopher Heymann and Lasse Clausen. It is unclear how much assets they have under management but they have invested in projects such as Zilliqa, Aelf, Mainframe, NuCypher, Opyn, Liquity, and Origo.
Blockchain Ventures is a venture capital fund and subsidiary of Blockchain.com - headquartered in the United Kingdom. They invest in DLT projects that advance the industry. It is led by Samuel Harrison, Peter Smith, and Salil Deshpande and they have invested in other projects such as CoinDirect, Theta.tv, DappRadar, Noodle, Enjin, CoinMe, and WinterMute.
7. Eterna Capital
Eterna Capital is a London-based investment firm that provides early-stage funding to blockchain projects that provide a social impact. The firm is managed by four partners Andrea Bonaceto, Asim Ahmad, Mattia Mrvosevic, and Nassim Olive. There is no data about their total assets under management but they have invested in Algorand, Borderless Capital, Hedera Hashgraph, and Dfinity.
8. PreAngel Fund
PreAngel Fund is a Chinese investment firm focused on early-stage internet startups that was founded in 2011 by Huan Li and Lijie Wang. The firm currently has just under $4.5 million assets under management and have an expansive portfolio that mainly consists of Chinese companies that include NEO, VitaHelper, Vinux, and Prodaas.
FGB is a digital assets management firm in blockchain-based capital markets. The firm currently has around $80 million in assets under management and has invested in projects such as Ampleforth, Coin list, Lino, FTX Exchange, Republic Protocol, Terra, and Zilliqa.
10. SNZ Holdings
SNZ Holdings is a crypto fund founded by a group of engineers. They have invested in projects such as Bancor, Blockstack, Brave, Celer, Certik, Cosmos, Ethereum, Handshake, Kava, IPFS, NuCypher, Polkadot, WhaleEx, Republic, and Status.
11. Continue Capital
Continue Captial was founded in 2016 and it focuses on investing in blockchain technology and early-stage technology startups. The firm was founded by Hangjiang Li and Ziahong Lin and they have invested in projects such as Golem, OmiseGo, Raiden Network, Zilliqa, Fiel Games, Bytex.io, and Immutable.
BlockAsset Ventures was founded by Bo Shen and David Lee and it is based in Singapore. They invest in a portfolio of leading digital assets that include Dfinity, Kyber Network, Polkadot, Vechain, Gnosis, Wax, and Ren.
13. Danhua Capital
Danhua Capital is a venture capital firm that invests in AI, Biotech firms, Consumer, Crypto, and Fintech firms. The firm has around $150 million under capital and has invested in crypto projects such as Blockfolio, Brave, Certik, Compound, Cosmos, Hedera Hashgraph, Ontology, Theta.tv, TrustToken, and Wish.
14. Crypto Bazaar
Crypto Bazaar is a Russian-based venture fund that was founded in 2017 by Oleg Ivanov. The company has a portfolio that contains Icon, NuCypher, Mainframe, Fantom, Certik, Harmony, Orchid, and Paytomat.
15. QCP Capital
QCP Capital is a proprietary trading firm that invests in the digital economy. Headquartered in Singapore, the prop firm was founded in 2017 by Darius Sit, Dr. Lim Jin Li, and Joshua Ho. The entire team has strong backgrounds in hedge funds, FX trading, Venture Capital, research, and technological development.
16. Sora Ventures
Sora Ventures is a crypto-baked venture capital firm dedicated to blockchain and digital currency investments. It was founded in January 2018 by Jason Fang and it has $12 million in assets under management. The firm has invested in projects such as Mithril, Takara gaming Group, Tari, BTC Inc, Numerai, The block, ContentBox, and Urbit.
17. Kenetic Capital
Kenetic Capital is a crypto venture capital firm that also has a proprietary trading arm and was founded in 2016 by Jehan Chu and Lawrence Chu. They specialize in equity of Series A/B blockchain technology companies and have $65 million in assets under management. Their portfolio includes Merckle Science, Liquefy, Alchemy, Blockfi, Hex Trust, and Blockdaemon.
Hashed is a crypto assets fund community builder that is based in South Korea. It was founded in September 2017 by Alex Shin and has around $25 million in assets under management. They have a large portfolio that includes Dapp.com, Quantstamp, Enigma, BAT, Props, NuCypher, Handshake, Carry Protocol, bZX Protocol, Synthetix, Set Labs, OmiseGo, MakerDAO, PundiX, EOS, Cosmos, Ethereum, Icon, and TomoChain.
