I use drawing for my avatar. Why? Because my son drew it when he was six years old and I like it as a memory.

Other than that I've never met an owl in my life.

Something interesting I found out about owl. I watched a video clip about agriculture in Israel. A farmer discussed how difficult it was to protect the crop from rodents. At first, the farmers used chemicals. But they caused more harm than they were worth. Then the farmers started thinking of who is the natural enemy of rodents. It turned out that owl was a natural and efficient rodent destroyer.

I forget what country Israelis got a population of owls from. I also forgot what type of owl it was. It didn't look big.

Anyhow, then built special houses for owls near the fields and boy oh boy, wasn't this a good solution! Owls were cleaning the fields from rodents!

The only problem was that owls don't respect state borders and some of them ventured in the neighboring Jordania where, unfortunately, the local population killed them. Owls for them are like a bad omen or something.

So the Israeli envoy had to go to Jordania to explain the benefits of owls around the fields. After that Jordanians stopped killing them and owls now live their happy lives.
